Established in 1989 by the Government of Maharashtra, it has contributed a lot to the nation in the field of Engineering, Research and Technological services through its dedicated faculty and disciplined students.
Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University – BATU Raigad has a conducted institute of its own, "Institute of Petrochemical Engineering", running Diploma Courses in eight streams of engineering and technology. Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University – BATU Raigadextends its services to the society through a governmental scheme of "Community Polytechnic" by educating the dropouts and empowering them with technical skills. The University offers education especially to rural women through a Certificate Course in Nursing Technology.
University Library of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University – BATU Raigad is an academic Library, established in 1989 to support teaching, Research and Development and other extension program of the University. Initially setup in 1989 the University Library moved to its new building in May-2009.Since then it has grown in size and shape. All these years, it has been the Life-Line for the academic activity of the University. Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University – BATU Raigad Library serves the academic needs of about 3000 UG/PG students, research scholars and nearly 500 teaching and non-teaching staff member of the University. All students, faculty members and employee of the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University – BATU Raigad are entitled to make use of the Library facility on taking Library membership.
There was a continuous demand from the parents of the girls and first year students for giving admission to their wards in the hostel. However, there were limited seats available and the demand was more. Particularly, the girl students had to suffer due to this situation. Also, the parents of the girl students wanted to keep their wards in the university hostel as far as possible. Therefore, it is decided now to give priority to the girl students and first year students of the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University – BATU Raigad for Admission in the hostels. As far as possible, all girl students requiring hostel admission will be offered seats in hostel.
Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University – BATU Raigad is unitary in character, and features undergraduate and postgraduate programs in core engineering disciplines. Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University – BATU Raigad offers four-year undergraduate programs that lead to the awarding of Bachelor of Technology degree in the disciplines of Chemical, Civil, Computer Science, Electrical, Electronics and Telecommunication, Information Technology, Mechanical and Petrochemical engineering. It also offers two-year postgraduate programs that lead to the awarding of Master of Technology degree in the disciplines of Chemical, Computer Science, Electronics and Telecommunication, Environmental, Manufacturing and Thermal and Fluids engineering.
The Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University – BATU Raigad Training and Placement Cell is headed by the Training and Placement Officer (TPO). Following officers of the technical departments have volunteered for the growth of the cell. University takes care to groom the students according to the needs of the industry. It seeks to open frontiers of knowledge and reveal new horizons of change, to broaden mindsets and to create positive attitudes in students.
Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University – BATU Raigad students get a lot of industrial exposure by their frequent industrial visits. The Cell has been coordinating the placement of students in various industries/organizations and arranging for the summer practical training to the First, Second and Third year B.Tech students for 2, 4 and 6 weeks every year respectively. The in-plant practical training to the undergraduate students during summer vacation inculcates the professional culture by exposing the students to the work environment of Indian industries. The faculty of the University interact effectively with the industries in academic, research & development alongwith other social activities.
