Indian Law Society Law College-ILS Law College was initially affiliated to the University of Bombay but with the founding of the University of Pune in 1949, the college became a constituent of the latter. The Indian Law Society was established in on 4 March 1923 as a Public Charitable Trust registered under the Societies Registration Act. The Society established the eponymous Law College with an objective to provide facilities for the study of law on a scientific basis.
The Indian Law Society's Law College, known as ILS Law College is one of the most prominent Law schools based in Pune India. It was established in 1924 and offers a wide range of courses, primarily the three year old law course and five year degree. It is one of the oldest as well as reputed legal institutions in India. ILS is located on Law College Road, Pune. The college was aided by The Ford Foundation.
Indian Law Society Law College-ILS Law College boasts of a very naturalistic picturesque campus, suitable for a Wildlife Sanctuary, sprawling to include a hill as well as brooks. It has one among the largest tree varieties which are protected by Haryali its Environmental Cell which are conveniently cut away by Chandan-Chors. The campus is located in the centre of Law College Road with the famous FTII i.e. Film and Television Institute one side and the heritage filled Bhandarkar Research Institute on the other side. Indian Law Society Law College-ILS Law College boasts of having a large swimming pool, tennis / badminton court, as well as a large open area where various functions are held and which gets converted to a football field. The campus is very much protected and safeguarded to maintain its old charm hence no developed infrastructure. There is no ragging in the campus following the expulsion of 22 students; the incident came to be known as the Wrath of Josh-Machine. Simplicity is the key word for the success of ILS as a college which has been in the Legal Field for more than 75 years.
Indian Law Society Law College-ILS Law College has a very impressive faculty, where most of the permanent staff being doctorate holders and almost all of them doing law from ILS only. The first 2 years of the 5 years law course doesn't have many Law Subjects. The remaining three years of the 5 years law course has way too many law subjects. Where in the 1st and 2nd year students learn subjects like Legal English, Sociology, Political Science, Legal History, Economics, Torts, Contracts, etc. After the 2nd year many Law subjects are bombarded onto the students. The college functions for 2 hours a day. The motto is 'That we are lazy and we wish to keep it that way'. So a number of students pursue many allied subjects with law. The students are not spoon fed, so responsibility is automatically seen in students when they enter the college in the pursuit of seeking knowledge.Indian Law Society Law College-ILS Law College has many students from Bhutan, Pakistan, Afghanistan and America and Switzerland and also from other parts of INDIA itself.
The college has two food centers, one a canteen which serves all cuisines from starters to main course- mainly pure veg. The other is a mess which serves proper food cooked in a thali system. A number of eateries and tapirs are located nearby which add to the variety of food stuffs.
Indian Law Society Law College-ILS Law College devotes a lot of attention in creating moot court atmosphere only, it hardly concentrates on model united nations (MUN) (or anything else for that matter), where in 2008 students represented the college at the New York University. ILS has prominent debating cells, cultural cells, etc. The college has boys as well as a girls hostel, though the boys hostel accommodates a larger number than the girls hostel, no efforts are being made to enhance the infrastructure. The Law College has the largest law library in Asia but it is poorly managed. Housed on a separate floor of the Sarswati building, the ILS library contains 45,000 books and volumes of periodicals, journals and magazines. Library is open from 8.30-4.30 only. Although library closes at 4.30 pm, still library staff starts banging doors around 4.00pm.

It’s the only Law School in Maharashtra having this facility.ILS canteen is also very famous in Pune for its hygiene. The ILS campus is situated on a hill, and is spread over 195 acres (0.79 km2) of thick foliage where mass murderers and smugglers hide sometimes.Several professors of the college are well-known for their command on English language.
