Maulana Azad Dental College-Delhi and Hospital is located near Delhi Gate within the Maulana Azad Medical College-Delhi Campus, New Delhi-110002. The Maulana Azad Dental College and Hospital made its inception as a "Dental Wing" in 1983 to cater to the dental needs of residents of Delhi and adjoining areas. Two decades later, on 26th September 2003, Dental Wing was upgraded to its present status of a full-fledged Dental College and Hospital.
Maulana Azad Dental College-Delhi is a centre for technical education in the field of Dentistry, conducts professional research and provides basic as well as specialized Dental Health Care services to the patients. Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) is a four years graduate programme offered at the institute. All students of
Maulana Azad Dental College-Delhi after completing the four years training undergo one year compulsory rotatory internship. The course of study for BDS degree and its related examinations is as per the rules and regulations of Delhi University. Selection to the course is made on merit basis through the All India & Delhi Pre-Medical Test that is held annually in the month of May. The prospectus for the same is available in December-January (the preceding year) at Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Delhi. All students must register themselves with the State Dental Councils, as required under Dental Council of India (DCI) Act, before they are allowed to practice Dentistry.
Maulana Azad Dental College-Delhi offers courses in medical specialties at the undergraduate, post graduate, and at the post doctoral levels. All these courses are recognised by the Medical Council of India and affiliated to the University of Delhi. The institution offers MBBS and BDS courses at the undergraduate level. It admits 180 students for the MBBS and 20 students for the BDS course annually. The primary aim of this Maulana Azad Dental College-Delhi is to produce competent basic doctors, specialists, and super specialists. The institute plans to start Postgraduate (MDS) degree course in various specialties of Dentistry in near future.
Maulana Azad Dental College-Delhi has one of the finest libraries with an impressive collection of literature, the library is centrally air-conditioned and recently renovated It has spacious reading rooms for students where they can study up till late hours. It has a large number of books and journals and modern self-learning facility through audio-visual aids to keep the readers abreast of latest medical developments all over the world. The library has also acquired 30 computers out that 25 are connected to Internet. This has served as unique educational support for postgraduate students as well as teachers.
Maulana Azad Dental College-Delhi Old Students' Association was formed in the year 1971. Every year a grand get-to-gether is organized. Maulanian Silver Jubilee trust organises scientific programmes and career guidance sessions.
