Shri Shankaracharya College of Engineering and Technology – SSCET Bhilai is the first Engineering College in India to be named after Adi Shri Shankaracharya and blessed by the all-present jagadguru . Shri Shankaracharya College of Engineering and Technology – SSCET Bhilai was commissioned during the session 1999-2000 with the goal of providing undergraduate and postgraduate education in Engineering and Technology, a close interaction with industry, and a strong emphasis on research.
Shri Shankaracharya College of Engineering and Technology – SSCET Bhilai has grown steadily in size and activities during the last five years of its existence. During the session 1999-2000, the yearly enrollment was 240 students whereas today it is 570. Shri Shankaracharya College of Engineering and Technology – SSCET Bhilai attracts the very best talent from Central India and around. In recognition of its achievements, Courses of SSCET have been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation. In addition to this, the institute is also ISO 9001:2000 Certified. We strive to become and to be recognized as one of the prominent technical education centers in India. College was the first choice of students seeking admission in 2003-2004 & also in 2004-2005 in the state of Chhattisgarh.

It has an excellent collection of books, CDs, newspapers, print & electronic journals, magazines; both national as well as international. Therefore, the students of this college are relegated to a feast of the latest and most happening literature in the field of science and technology.

The collection of the Central Library is rich and diverse, especially in terms of the range and depth of coverage. Collection encompasses subjects in communication technology, computer science, electronics, information technology, Electrical, management, humanities, and social sciences and related areas. This collection includes, books, conference proceedings, reference books, CD-ROMs, floppies, VCDs, DVDs, Video Cassettes, etc. Shri Shankaracharya College of Engineering and Technology – SSCET Bhilai library is also connected with Developing Library Network (DELNET), New Delhi. This facilitates resource sharing between member libraries of DELNET. Faculty and students availing DELNET facility through Internet, have access to rare books, xerox copies of journals, articles, thesis and other reading materials.
Shri Shankaracharya College of Engineering and Technology – SSCET Bhilai Central Library is member of Indian Digital Library in Engineering Sciences & Technology, New Delhi (INDEST) which provides us IEL online , ASME & Springer Link for Online Journals, Conference Proceedings , Standards & Newly Arrived Books. Our library is also connected with American Information Resource Centre , Mumbai, which facilitates resource sharing between member libraries of AIRC. Faculty and students are availing the AIRC facility , which allows reference into books and makes provisions for xerox copies of journals, articles, thesis and other reading materials.
Shri Shankaracharya College of Engineering and Technology – SSCET Bhilai has full fledged laboratories, completely equipped with items required for practicals in the syllabus of each discipline. The laboratories satisfy the norms of AICTE and the University. College is committed to achieving total quality in the process of teaching and learning by using modern teaching methodologies and performance monitoring systems for both students and teachers. The efficacy of the systems are reflected by the statistics of the rich alumni who are well-placed in the top ranking companies in India and abroad.
Shri Shankaracharya College of Engineering and Technology – SSCET Bhilai has furnished Boys Hostel and Girls Hostel inside the campus with amenities such as Internet Connectivity, Gym etc. Each Hostel has its own Mess. Hostel Mess serves healthy and hygienic food to the students. Faculty Coordinators are appointed to oversee the functioning of both the Hostels. Shri Shankaracharya College of Engineering and Technology – SSCET Bhilai Auditorium with a capacity to seat 1,200 individuals and a playground spanning 12 acres has been allocated for a host of sports activities such as Hockey, Cricket, Football etc. A newly constructed Indoor Games Complex with a Badminton Court, is an added attraction.

Doctors also provide Free Medical consultancy and support to all the Students and Staff. Well equipped Multi-Gym is functional under the supervision of a Qualified Physical Director. The Bank with ATM Centre is located outside the main gate. The facility of opening accounts is provided to all the Students and Staff members. Safe deposite locker facility is also provided to the staff members. Shri Shankaracharya College of Engineering and Technology – SSCET Bhilai Canteens and Cafeteria provides good Hygienic and healthy food to all staff and students of GIT. All the Canteens are maintained with well equipped utensils. Institute owns ten Buses plying between various locations in the City and Institute. Institute also hires buses from State transport. Free transport facility to students and staff. College offers different kind of Undergraduate course and Postgraduate courses.
