Sri Agrasen Kanya PG College – Varanasi has opened in 1973 and situated in the heart of this holy city near Maidagin is rendering great service for the welfare, in association with Sri Kashi Agrawal Samaj. This institution has got autonomy in session 2001-02 and has been honoured of being the first women’s autonomous college of Uttar Pradesh. This institution has also the honour of being first college accredited grade ‘A’ by NAAC in 2005. Sri Agrasen Kanya PG College – Varanasi imparts education at undergraduate level in ten subjects in Arts Faculty, seven subjects in Science Faculty and commerce faculty and at Post Graduate level five subjects in arts Faculty and three subjects in Science Faculty.
After getting autonomy Sri Agrasen Kanya PG College – Varanasi has started Biotechnology at graduate level and Chemistry at Post Graduate level in Science Faculty. At post graduate level in Arts Faculty, Home Science has been started with its all five branches. Along with these subjects General Hindi/General English is Taught as compulsory subject at graduate level and one month computer training is also compulsory for every student of B.A/B.Sc./B.Com. first year under computer awareness program.
Sri Agrasen Kanya PG College – Varanasi initially comprising of six rooms started its academic functioning with fourteen students and for teachers. Since then the college flourished continuously and is now having approximately six thousand students, 200 staff members, two campus and multistoried building of its own. The new campus of the college is in Parmanandpur near Shivpur Bipass, Varanasi.
Sri Agrasen Kanya PG College – Varanasi has four faculty buildings for Instructional Purposes. The faculty of Science has separate laboratory equipment and facilities for different science subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biotech, Botany, Zoology, Statistics. The Arts faculty also provides laboratory facilities to those subjects requiring them such as Psychology, Home-Science and Education. All the laboratories have store rooms and other facilities. Equipped with Pentium-4 terminals in network environment with latest application and database software’s of each stream enables the students to work in an advanced environment. Sri Agrasen Kanya PG College – Varanasi has two well equipped computer labs for undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Besides there is a Broadband Internet Facility providing to students access to the latest developments and trends the world over.
Sri Agrasen Kanya PG College – Varanasi has separate hostel for girls available in Parmanandpur campus. Mess is running in the Campus itself. The college has well furnished library materials such as Books, Journals, Research work published, papers etc. and big study room for the students. The total no. books are about 18000 for different subjects and nearly 100 foreign and Indian Journals as well as other subscriptions. Recently the library hall is expanded taking into consideration the need of more books and journals for postgraduate as well as graduate level studies.
