History


The Record was founded in 1895, but in 1930 it was bought by John Borg, a Wall Street financier. Between 1952 & 1963 the sales of the company doubled & its coverage changes from local to regional. The Record provided different local news coverage for areas in its distribution range.

Format & Style


A photographer for The Record took photo of Three firefighters in the aftermath of 11th of September 2001 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York raising an American Flag over the rubble of the World Trade Center. This photo known as raising the flag at Ground Zero became iconic photo. Company owns the rights to the photograph & licensed it in exchange for donations to 11th of September causes. The photo was licensed for non commercial purposes as long the photo used in a proper manner.

Your new delivery service has been totally unacceptable. We did not get the paper today. We never get it in the slightest bit of inclement weather. It does not even come late, it never comes. Also, the delivery service person rides up and down our block at 6:00 AM each morning blasting Salsa music from his car radio at 150 decibels. This is a bigger issue as if I Cancel the paper, it will still not stop him from waking us up EVERYDAY.

Sunday, June four and Sunday, May 28, my newspaper was soaking wet as in rained those days and the paper was in one bag instead of 2. This has happened many times in the past AND IT'S GETTING REALLY ANNOYING

I would appreciate if someone could notify the person who delivers the paper to please put two bags surrounding the newspaper if there it's going to rain that day. I've called several times about this issue, but the deliverer doesn't seem to get the message. I'd appreciate if someone would call me back regarding this issue and to please credit my account for these two past Sunday mistakes. Thank you,

Why has the listing of the area movie theaters and the movie times been deleted from the paper? As a long time subscriber of the Record I am extremely disappointed at the direction the paper has taken since taken over by Gannett. The sports section very rarely has any late scores and the Better living Section on Friday is a poor version of what is used to be. No more restaurant reviews and very few ads taken out by local restaurants.

I am at 89 Midwood Rd in Teaneck. I will be 81 shortly and have a broken hip. I mention the above because I cannot reach the paper if it is way under the car. On saturday I managed to get it with my cane. Yesterday was totally impossible. I did actually want to read yesterday's paper. I will pro rata your next bill and take off whatever is necessary.
