Birla Institute of Management Technology-BIMTECH was established in 1988 under the aegis of the Birla Academy of Art and Culture, and supported by Birla group of companies. Dr. (Smt.) Sarala Birla, chairperson of Birla Academy and Syt. B K Birla, chairperson of B K Birla Group of companies are the founders of the business school. The Board of Governors is comprised of eminent people from industry and headed by Smt Jayashree Mohta, Vice Chairperson, Birla Academy of Art & Culture, Kolkatta. Birla Institute of Management Technology-BIMTECH is mini India in its formation every year. It has students coming almost from all the states of India, and also from few foreign countries. Its mix of nationalities, cultural backgrounds, academic and professional experiences make BIMTECH one of the most exciting and enriching business schools in the country. Birla Institute of Management Technology-BIMTECH Knowledge Centre is an essential component of BIMTECH’s research and education mission. The combination of carefully selected traditional and digital resources via browsing interface and supported by exceptionally fast response service, provides BIMTECH community with a library that is worthy of this world class institution. The enthusiastic Library management, commitment of talented Library staff and the support of top management makes the Library a most lively place on the campus providing friendly environment that enables learning and advancement of knowledge, extends research and publication assistance and facilitates undergraduate, postgraduate and research scholars. Birla Institute of Management Technology-BIMTECH Knowledge Centre is well equipped with precious books, Textbooks, Reference books, Periodicals and Journals. It is supported by a large well-ventilated two floored reading-room. The library is enriched with digital facilities and computer system. Free access of this is made available to the students, ex-students, research workers, faculty, staff and visitors. The library frequently displays and exhibits various books, newly arrived books. Students can also buy the books directly from market and submit them to the library of which the amount is paid immediately.
The Birla Institute of Management Technology-BIMTECH academic block boasts of spacious classrooms accommodating 60 students at one time and is accessorized with the latest Technology viz, LCD Projectors, Wireless Internet and centralized AC. Two hi-tech seminar halls cater to all the seminars and guest lectures that are organized. Once classes are over, the students go back to residential block for student’s which is a state of the art facility with a homely ambience. Accommodation is single (room) with the rooms been sectored into small clusters equipped with a modern washroom, fridge and a TV. A vending machine at the ground floor of the girl’s hostel serves the need for a quick bite anytime during the course of a 24 hour long day.
A “Tuck Shop”, which is home to A to Z of necessities that one may require, a Health Centre and a “Cafeteria” with a jovial setting completes the campus arena. All round security which operates on a 24x7 basis renders the campus a safe hamlet and helps avoid happenings of any indecorous activity, either inside the campus or in its immediate vicinity. Apart from a conducive academic environment for the intellectual development, the various conduits and committees for a myriad of activities ensures a streamlined process which contributes towards augmenting the all round personality of Bimtechians. Student driven clubs in Birla Institute of Management Technology-BIMTECH afford full opportunities for the young managers to learn the art of managing their favourite hobbies-cum-interests. The information technology facility is the speed resource of the school. The computer labs in the academic block, and individual network facility in the hostel rooms make it easy to reach to the material provided by the faculty. Round the hour, internet facility connects the participants with the world. Participants of the programmes are always encouraged to bring their computers or Laptops.
Birla Institute of Management Technology-BIMTECH offers two year AICTE approved post-graduate courses in general management (PGDM), International Business (PGDM-International Business), Insurance Business Management (PGDM- Insurance Business) and retail Management (PGDM-Retail). For PGDM- Sustainable Development Practices, AICTE approval is under progress. The Centre for Research Studies conducts doctoral and post-doctoral programmes and academic and industry focused research.
