CHELCO is an acronym of Choctawhatchee Electric Cooperative Incorporation, a non-profit electric utility member of 'Touchstone Energy Cooperatives', a cooperative federation of the United States. CHELCO was formed in the year 1941 by the efforts of federal Rural Electrification Administration to offer low interest loan to the citizens of Florida for electricity. After some time of establishment, the organization had integrated with ten other electric cooperatives.
