Janata Shikshan Sanstha’s Kisan Veer Mahavidyalaya – Satara established by Shri Kisan (Abasaheb) Veer, the veteran freedom fighter and by Tarkateertha Laxmanshastri Joshi, the then Chairman of the Maharashtra State Board for Literature and Culture and the Chief Editor of the Marathi Vishwakosha (Encyclopedia), is one of the best rural colleges affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur. The pioneers showed exemplary zeal in promoting higher education in the rural population and took unprecedented efforts in mobilizing popular and monetary support for the development of the college premises.
Although Kisan Veer Mahavidyalaya – Satara made a humble beginning with only Arts and Commerce faculties way back in 1962, it soon added M. Com., M. A. (Marathi, English Hindi and Economics) and the Science Faculty. Hon. Shri Prataprao Bhosale, President of Janata Shikshan Sanstha, Wai and Hon. Shri Laxmanrao Patil, Vice-President of Janata Shikshan Sanstha, Wai have made a remarkable contribution to the changes in the infrastructure of the college taking into consideration the changing needs of the student population. During the post-accreditation period, the college has initiated Career Oriented Courses, Distance Education Courses, Bachelor of Computer Applications Course, etc. Kisan Veer Mahavidyalaya – Satara has organized National Seminar (Hindi), Regional Workshop (Physics) and State Level Seminar (Botany) during the last six years.
Kisan Veer Mahavidyalaya – Satara is situated at Wai Panchgani road Wai - District – Satara, Maharashtra. The College had purchased “ Vriddhi” Software for computerization Library & office. Library is fully computerized by using the same software. Library has 55852 books with advanced latest editions. We have various reference sources including Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, Biographical Sources, Annals etc. Library has purchased 80 Periodicals and 16 newspapers. Our Library provides varies services to the users.
Kisan Veer Mahavidyalaya – Satara has sports office of 540 sq. feet area, which is provided with a computer. College has a 150 sq. ft. Gymnasium equipped with various exercise machines and free weight equipments such as Bar belts, Dumbbells, weight plates, Jogger Belt, Exercise cycle etc. In addition we give exposure to the chess, carom board by providing all equipments. College has two table tennis tables. College has a sports field (14,875sq.mt.) having a 6 lanes standard running track. The inside area of running track is used for various out door games like foot ball, cricket, hand ball, volley ball, Kabaddi, Kho-kho etc. We also provide coaching facility for Hand Ball, Cricket, Badminton, Hockey and Athletics by appointing professional coaches.
Kisan Veer Mahavidyalaya – Satara NSS unit has organized camps at different remote villages and conducted activities such as construction of roads, spread of medical awareness, development of soak pits etc. Arts/Commerce/Science/BCA Departments, COC/Open University/NSS/NCC Departments, Computerized Central Library, Remedial Coaching Centre, Entry-in-Services Coaching Centre, Botanical Garden, Gymkhana, BCA Computer Laboratory, Language Laboratory, Internet Resource Centre, Students’ Co-operative Store, Ladies’ Room, Students’ Canteen, Vehicle Parking, Hostels (under reconstruction), Museum, Water Purification System are some of our excellent student support services.
