Since its inception in 2004, the institute has given special emphasis to promote issues like people centric development into the mainstream of democratic governance through its social science curriculum.
At Viswass College of Social Work - Bhubaneswar, we constantly endeavor to transform our academic culture radically and to widen the options in research findings. That's why we are working in close collaboration with governmental as well as inter-governmental agencies, NGOs, and other civil society groups to explore new social reforms. The college provides Bachelor Degree and Master Degree to the college students.
Viswass College of Social Work - Bhubaneswar is a brain child of Sohum World Foundation trust. The trust was founded in 2004 by Smt. Pratima Gharai, a noted philanthropist who is associated with many philanthropic activities. Since its inception, the trust has contributed immensely for the uplift of human society. To impart social science into the education arena, the trust decided to launch a world-class educational conglomerate right in the heart of Bhubaneswar. VISWASS is an initiative of that very long term development strategy. Today, Sohum World Foundation is the guiding factor for quality educational institutes with more than 3 institutions running under its wings and offering diversified courses.
Viswass College of Social Work - Bhubaneswar is located at Pitapalli, Bhubaneswar, Khurda, Orissa. College has a spacious library providing the students and teachers independent study areas apart from the area for the book galleries. The library has a gamut of books on social science subjects and other related fields of study. A range of journals and research papers encompassing the fields of Social work, Economics, Sociology, Psychology, Statistics and Rural and Urban development, supplements the resource base of the library. The library remains open from 9 Am to 8 Pm.
Viswass College of Social Work - Bhubaneswar provides a wide range of computer systems and software for academic use by the students and staff. Apart from the general course curriculum, the students are also trained in basics of computer application. The objective is to acquaint students in computer application which has become an essential requisite in every walk of life. Qualified IT personnel train the students.
Viswass College of Social Work - Bhubaneswar has adequate numbers of well-furnished classrooms of different sizes. The classroom ambience at Viswass is endowed with teaching aids and facilities that include O.H.P, Audio-Visuals aid and LCD projector. Each classroom has the capacity to accommodate up to 50 students at a time. The conference hall is equipped with surrounding acoustic sound system along with other communication gadgets like O.H.P, Audio-Visual aids and LCD projector. The hall has the capacity to accommodate about 80 people at a time.
College provides separate hostel facility for boys and girls. Since these hostels act as the second home of the students for four years, full care has been taken to make the accommodation peaceful, secure and comfortable which would provide the inmates an environment for development. Both Air Cooled Double Seater and Non- Air Cooled Single Seater Room with Balcony and Double Seater Rooms Available.
Viswass College of Social Work - Bhubaneswar recognizes the importance of sportsman spirit and team effort for students. This can be learned in congenial environment through sports and games. For this the Campus has adequate sports facilities and state-of-the-art infrastructure. It is proposed to organize a number of inter and intra college sports events throughout the year to enable the students to develop a spirit of healthy competition and team effort.
