Back in 1994, persons with missionary zeal at heart decided to establish an Indian Nursing College in Barnala to fulfill the long standing needs of Malwa region of Punjab India. The College has been situated in the heart of city and duly recognized by Punjab Nurses Registration Council (PNRC) vide its letter no. PNRC/94/2511 dated 24th August 1994. Thereafter PNRC granted permanent affiliation and recognition to the Institute vide its approval no. PNRC/98/794 dated 11.06.1998 The Institution has got its own parent hospital i.e. Sidana Multi-Specialty Hospital. Sidana Hospital is serving to the health needs of the people in various specialties since 1980. The Hospital is providing OPD and Indoor services in the field of Surgery, Gynae. and Obstetrics, Pediatrics and I.C.U. The Hospital is managed by well-qualified specialists in all the fields supported by qualified and experienced staff round the clock. It has its own Computerized Laboratory, X-Ray, ECG, and Ultrasound facilities, state of the art Operation Theatre, I.C.U. and Labour Room. The College is committed to provide the best education to the students to groom them to serve the society in the fields of nursing and midwifery.

If any incidents of ragging come to the notice of the authority, the concerned students shall be given liberty to explain and if their explanation is not found satisfactory, the authority would expel such students from the Institution. National College of General Nursing and Midwifery has a well-stocked library and equipped with modern teaching aids. More books are acquired from time to time as per the requirements of the syllabus and demand from the students and faculty.
National College of General Nursing and Midwifery has its own Nutrition Laboratory consist of: Work Tables, Cooking Stoves, Gas Connection, Crockery Sets, Cutlery Sets, Dietetic Scales, Refrigerator, Washbasin and etc.
National College of General Nursing and Midwifery has Nursing Practice Laboratory consist of Two Demonstration beds, 6 set of Inventory Articles, Two Dummy Dolls, Two Cupboards & racks for student facility. A Community Practice Laboratory has been installed in the campus for student practice. It has also a Audio Visual Aids Lab for the students.
Transportation Facilities also provided by the National College of General Nursing and Midwifery with one mini bus and one car.
College offers 3.5 year Diploma course in General Nursing & Midwifery course.
The College has own hostel facilities in the campus area. 27 spacious rooms in the hostel can accommodate about 80 students. All the rooms have required number of tables, chairs, book racks, cupboards. Hygienic food is served to the students in Hostel Mess in homely atmosphere. Students can take snacks from the National College of General Nursing and Midwifery Canteen. Facilities for indoor games, TV & VCR etc have also been provided to the hotsellers. All the students are required to live in the hostel during the whole period of training. However, Principal of the Institute has the discretion to exempt any student from this condition.
